Maddie and told her to run as fast as she could. Her little legs
pumped comically, but try as she might, she could not get up
enough speed to make the kite soar. Maddie frowned deeply, near
tears, until Logan put her arm around her and promised that
she would get the kite flying high, and that once it was, Maddie

could hold onto the string. That did the trick. Maddie laughed
and clapped her hands together as Logan ran until the kite took
flight. She ran fast and hard, letting out string until the kite was
well on its way.
Assured that it was stable, Logan trotted up to Maddie
and Jillian. She carefully handed the ball of string to Maddie,
who took it dutifully and promised not to let it go. It was cute
how seriously she took her task. Jillian smiled and blinked her
thanks to Logan. It was only their third date and it really wasn t
necessary for Logan to ingratiate herself with her daughter, but
Jillian knew Logan wasn t trying to impress her or follow some
script. She was doing what came naturally, and she was a natural
with kids.
You re quite the expert at this, Jillian observed.
Jeez. I haven t flown a kite since I was a teenager. It was a
great idea you had.
Maddie s been asking me since the spring to take her kite
flying. She saw it on a commercial, and she s been talking about
it nonstop.
Logan flashed her a look that was so tender, Jillian felt her
breath leave her in a rush. The three of them together like this
felt more like a family to her than she d felt in a long time with
Steph. In Maddie s first year they were busy just looking after
her needs, and by her second year they were both so busy with
their jobs that they really didn t make the time or effort to do fun
things together. Yes, thought Jillian, this is what it s like to be a
family.
You doing okay? Jillian whispered to Logan.
 Couldn t be better.
 You sure?
Jillian, doing this makes me feel like a kid again. Thank you,
it s wonderful. She leaned down and kissed Jillian s cheek, then
whispered in her ear, Seeing you like this kind of turns me on.
What do you mean, seeing me like this?
Logan s grin was lopsided and sexy as hell. Lust darkened her
eyes. As a M.I.L.F.

 A what?
You know. Logan grew adorably sheepish. From that
stupid American Pie movie. She glanced quickly at Maddie,
making sure she was still occupied with the kite before leaning
close to Jillian s ear. It means Mother I d Like to Fuck.
Jillian nearly tripped. She stared openmouthed at Logan,
and then started to laugh from deep in her belly. The phrase
was something she would have expected to come out of Mark s
mouth, not Logan s. Why, Logan Sharp, I didn t know you had
it in you!
What, to be a perv? Logan giggled and snuck a kiss. You
do bring certain things out in me.
Jillian smiled back, but inside she churned with uncertainty.
She was attracted to Logan. She desired her in a way she hadn t
desired another woman in years. She wanted to jump Logan s
bones, and she was pretty sure Logan would happily surrender.
She had no idea what would happen later, once Maddie was put
to bed. She had been trying not to think about it all evening,
but it was always there in the back of her mind, like the almost
imperceptible hum of the streetlights. Now she couldn t seem to
stop thinking about being in Logan s arms later, about kissing the
way they d kissed at Logan s condo, about Logan s hands cupping
and stroking her breasts. Oh, God. She pulsed with a yearning so
strong, it seemed it just might consume her in the next breath.
She was wet, too. Very wet.
Logan was looking slightly mortified. Are you okay? I didn t
offend you, did I?
No, Logan, you didn t. She took deep, calming breaths.
Quite the opposite, actually. She turned her attention to
Maddie. You re doing great, honey. Are you having fun?
Look how high it is, Mommy! With that, Maddie tried to
point at the kite, and predictably the ball of string popped out of
her hands. Logan sprinted off, miraculously closing the distance
between herself and the runaway kite in just a few strides. Maddie
began to whimper, tears just seconds away, and Jillian silently
cheered Logan on.

Ah, always the hero, Jillian said fondly as Logan returned
triumphantly with the kite in hand.
Logan bowed and handed the kite to Maddie. Your kite,
madam.
Maddie giggled and took the kite, which was almost bigger
than she was. [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
